A Poem Is A Glass of Wine

A poem is a glass of wine,
meant to go to your head.
Heavy or light, it’s good
for the heart.
You don’t need to be
a sommelier.
You will know what you want to chew
and what you would choose
to spit in the bucket.
A long-aged vintage,
or a bottle with a cartoon on the label.
Nothing wrong with that.
If you enjoy it
drink deep,
or sip it.
Maybe you only like it
from the lips of a lover.
Kiss them, lick them,
or just listen.
There’s more than one way
to get drunk on
poetry.
