Exultation

as they crashed forward at your feet
calling out in jubilation.

You dug a hole in the cool umbrella-shaded sand
with a deep blue cockle shell that dwarfed your hand,
frantic with a curious elation,
and when you struck water beneath, splashing with your little feet,
there was pure wonder in your shining eyes
as your laughter sang your exultation.
