the light has lost its honeyed gold
the forest green is dark
sweet summer’s song is growing old
the sun has slipped its arc
thank heavens nights are not yet cold
Apollo’s rays are stark
while autumn’s jailer bars her cold
until her colors are paroled
grapes sweeten leaves turn red and rolled
the season holds its spark
