Dawning

morning squeezes            children quartered                curious control this
vice grip and push            in schools                             ritual morning
birthing                             adults drink                           horizon fire rises
the adult light                   coffee and labor                    sets kettles to boil
of newly broken sun         or dredge screens                 children to their
out and walking                data mine                              breakfasts coal 
or else                              answer emails manager        to burn cogs
commuting                       meetings boss customer       turning they call it
                                         service consumer                 the grind

dawns on me
why i’m a night 
person
