Snakes


of course we once revered snakes
death-headed delvers
delivering mortal medicines 
caduceus style
while some only saw danger
fast flowing across the ground
looping like levitation
hibernal brumation then born
out of their own skin sloughing
again and again
Christ-like enshrouded unshrouded
i never saw one swallow its own tail
but cycles of change
are built in
